Hi,
Allow me to introduce myself, as Mick Jagger pouts so effectively in the opening line of “Sympathy for the Devil”. I have spent all of my professional life in education. I was an English teacher in a secondary school for thirty years, including thirteen years as a Head of Department in two different schools, spent a brief spell as a Staff Development Officer for English in Ayrshire, South-West Scotland, and currently work as an Education Manager for Learning and Teaching Scotland, whose function is to advise the Scottish Government and to support teachers in all aspects of the curriculum. I was recently involved in producing the draft experiences and outcomes for Literacy and English, part of the review of the curriculum in Scotland. I am an enthusiastic supporter of Curriculum for Excellence, the framework document which outlines the shared vision for the curriculum in Scotland.
